Talking:
I wouldn’t say that Raimi’s said his official first word yet, but he is fully aware that Dad prefers to hear the “duh duh duh” sound and Mom prefers the “muh muh muh” sound. Whenever he wakes up in the middle of the night, it’s “muh muh muh” all the way.
And if he doesn’t like something he goes for the “nuh nuh nuh.” But if he likes something, he’s all laughing and screaming.
Also, he really seems to enjoy singing. Like, HE sings, even though he doesn’t know any words. It’s weird and wonderful.
Crawling:
We are in total unstoppable crawl mode. And the best part was that we actual got to witness his first crawl. (Like all parents, we were worried we’d here about it first from his daycare provider.) He was rocking back and forth for a few days, and then all of a sudden he just took off across the room. Soon thereafter he crawled across the living room, went underneath the dining room table, took the phone off the hook, and somehow carried it back to where he’d been sitting.
He does this weird thing where he pauses at the places where the type of flooring change. Like where the living room connects to the kitchen, and the flooring goes from carpet to vinyl, he’ll stop and sit for a moment, examining the floor, I guess to ascertain that it is still crawl-on-able, before continuing. Same thing between rooms with different colors of carpeting.
Stairs:
Luckily for us he has not figured out how to climb stairs at all yet, but I think that’s going to happen very soon. A few times recently he’s been sitting at the bottom of the stairs, and I’ll run up to grab something from the second floor, and he thinks it’s just the funniest thing ever. He laughs hysterically, then starts frantically trying to figure out how to follow. He pulls himself up into a standing position and smacks his hands against the first and second steps, but so far the crucial act of pulling a knee up remains a mystery.
Sleeping:
He was not sleeping through the night, then he was, then he wasn’t, then he was again, and now he isn’t again. This time it’s attributable to the 4 new teeth he’s got coming in. Still, I wish he didn’t insist on being totally awake and ready to start his day every morning at 5 a.m.
Cuteness:
Still through the roof.
