Up
Raimi has been fascinated by the stairs for a while now, so the other night I started teaching him how to climb. I just sat behind him and moved his limbs around to show him that climbing stairs is done by pulling one knee up, then the other, then standing and repeating.
About halfway up the stairs, he started doing it by himself. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. He just suddenly, totally, completely got it, and was able to climb the rest of the way up the stairs with me just providing back up support for his occasional wobbliness. When he finally got to the top, we were both thrilled, laughing and yelling. The first useful skill he’s learned from his dad.
Two days later, he was climbing all the way up, all by himself. Now I just plop him down in front of the stairs, and he starts climbing. It still amazes me every single time. He gets bored way before I do.
