Raimi–

Happy First Birthday! I have loved watching you grow and change all of this year, and am fascinated by how much you grow and change between each of our visits. I can’t believe that it’s only been one year that you’ve been with all of us. One of my favorite memories of you was one night at Pixi’s when I got to get up with you and you were only a few months old. Snuggling with you and singing with you was really a lot of fun, and it was nice to spend some quiet time with you. You’ve changed so much since then, and you seem to be more fun with each day. Watching you take some of your first steps has been especially exciting.

While today is a very special day for you, I’ve noticed that you are very well loved every day by not only your mom and dad, but also by a whole lot of other people who are your family and friends. I will always love you and look forward to seeing all of the changes you will go through in not only the next year, but all the years to come. I’m so happy that we live so close by so that I will get to know you as you grow up. Happy Birthday Raimi!

With love,

Uncle M.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY RAIMI!!!!!! I can’t believe you are 1 already; you are such a beautiful boy and you are getting so big. It seems like we were just in Urbana bugging your mom and dad while you were being born, and yet, it was a whole year ago. Over this year you have learned to sleep, to eat, to walk, to say some words, to roll around, to sit up, how not to spit up, to play with toys, to chase your cats, and to make raspberries with your mouth; I haven’t learned nearly so much myself. You are so very special to me as you are my very first nephew and so I hope that we will have lots of fun times hanging out over the next many years. Max wishes you a very happy birthday too and can’t wait to eat your cake and help you play with your toys, if you will be so kind as to share them. I love you more than there are candles on all the birthday cakes in all the world!

Happy Birthday,
Auntie Phyl Phyl

Happy birthday Raimi!

What a cheerful person you are – every time I see you, you smile and laugh.
(Can’t say that about anyone else I know.)
What a cheerful person you make me – every time I see you, I smile and laugh.
(Can’t say that about anyone else I know.)
Plus you play a mean harmonica.
(Can’t say that about anyone else I know, either, come to think of it.)
I can’t wait to know you more!

love
Beth

Dear Raimi,

Happy 1st Birthday sweetie. I didn’t forget your birthday, HONEST, I have been busy helping Debbie move and time just passed too quickly.

It’s hard to believe one year has gone by already (and I haven’t even met you) but one of these days I will.

You are a handsome little guy and I know you bring so much joy to your mommy and daddy. Always stay sweet – love you honey.

Hugs and Kisses – Uncle Bob and Aunt Pansy

Raimi,

Happy Big Boy Birthday #1. What a big walking, talking, harmonica playing boy you are. I have been so lucky to watch you grow from a brand new baby in the hospital, to a new baby in your first house, and then a toddler boy in your new house. All because your daddy and mommy have been so generous to share your life with friends and family on the internet. You will grow up expecting technology to be just another part of your life–what an interesting future it will be.

The best part of the sharing your mom and dad have done is to be wonderful catalogers of your life–to have written your life and captured your life in pics for all of us too far away to see you regularly. Your life will be filled with things I can’t even imagine today. And yet one of the best gifts you will ever receive is the old fashioned writing your parents have done for you and for us.

Happy Birthday sweet boy.

Cathy

Happy First Birthday, Raimi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems both as if you were born an instant ago and that you’ve always been in our lives. I can’t remember what life was like without you. It certainly wasn’t as full and joyful as it is now. There aren’t words that can fully convey how adorable you are and how wonderful it is to have you here.

I continue to be amazed at all you are learning to do and how fast you are growing. I wonder if when you read this, you’ll still be a harmonica afficiando and learning to play the piano. I think you’ve inherited your parents’ musical instincts and abilities. It is obviously that you’ve been blessed with their sweet dispositions.

There’s no telling what you’ll be doing in the years ahead but it is certain that whatever you do, you’ll continue to delight us and make our lives ever more meaningful.

Just one precious year and so much to look back on!!! We love you more than there are musical notes to make!!!!

Much, much love,

Pixi and Robert

Happy First Birthday Raimi! We’ve loved watching you grow up! You have such great and special parents, we can’t wait to wait to watch your future unfold. XOXO

Hi Raimi,

We’re a late addition to the happy birthday wishes, but were thinking of you all day on your birthday, especially images of you playing your harmonica. I swear I thought of you more than I thought of Punxatawny Phil. Really.

It’s so hard to believe it’s been a year, and hard to believe it’s been almost that long since we’ve seen you. But it means so much to us to know there’s another sweet boy out there, living and being loved and sometimes fretted over by his wonderful parents. We love seeing your pictures and hearing your voice and learning of all your tremendous achievements. We think of you a lot, and send you lots of love, and hope that we will get a chance to hear about your favorite adventures in person sometime this year.

Happy Birthday, sweet boy!

Love,
Auntie Parisa & Tio Enrique

Dear Raimi:

As usual, I’m running late in offering my birthday wishes, but here they are anyway. It has been wonderful getting to observe you grow and change over this last year through your Web site. With every update I am amazed at how fast you are growing, and sad that I don’t see you more often. Holding you, changing you, and feeding you in your first months of life were powerful, moving experiences for me and I will never forget how patient you and your mom were with my awkwardness and how lucky I felt to be shown such trust. You’re special, beautiful, and much loved and I look forward to watching you continue to grow.

Love Maggie

Dear Raimi,

It’s so great to see your birthday pictures. I can’t believe that you are alread 1 year old. It seems like yesterday that we were awaiting your arrival. Since the day you were born, you have delighted all of us with your gentleness, your smile and your happy personality – (except when you are teething of course!)

I look forward to all my visits with you and I wish that I could see you more often because you change daily.

Thanks for bringing so much joy into our lives. You are loved so much!

I can’t wait til I see you in February! Keep putting those smiles on Mommy and Daddy!

Much love and hugs and kisses,

Bubbie Iris

Dear Cutie, I mean Raimi,

I cannot believe that you *so* no longer resemble the eensy-tiny munchkin whose picture I had on my refrigerator for so long. Now you are the birthday king! How time flies…. May you always smile as much as you do now.

Happy first birthday,

Magdalen P.

To a great boy on his first birthday!
(That’s the Hallmark way to start a card, and you are Hallmark-worthy at the very least, Mr. Raimi)
In honor of your first year out and about in the universe, I want to share the top five things that I adore about you in the following suspenseful countdown:

5. The fact that you are ALREADY a feminist. Such a progressive thinker!
4. Your Barbie collection.
3. That you burst into this winning smile when you make eye contact with someone. Totally makes my day every time.
2. How photogenic you are. Yes, it may be vain of me, but it is soooo enjoyable to see your updated photos. Your cuteness really is “off the charts”, as your dad would say.
1. Your parents. It may be an obvious choice, but good parents are nearly as much of a gift as amazing children. You won the lottery with your parents, Raimi.

Happy Birthday, Baby Raimi!
Melina
