First 3-Word Sentence
For the last few months it’s seemed like Raimi has a new trick every day–he says a new word for the first time, or is better at opening bathroom doors or sliding down the stairs. It’s been happening so fast, and I think I’ve been waiting for a plateau with his development, where I can just take a breath and reflect on how fast he’s changing and on how much he continually amazes me every day.
But it’s becoming abundantly clear that there isn’t going to be a plateau; he’s just going to keep developing like this, keep amazing me just like this, for the next few years. So I guess there won’t be time for me to collect my thoughts and put the depth of my amazement, the amount to which he totally thrills me on a daily basis, into words.
So I’ll just say that tonight we were having dinner, and Raimi always likes fruit for dessert, so I peeled and sliced him some pear and put it on his tray, and Rosalie said “Thank you, Daddy.” And then, as though it was nothing, as though he’d been saying it every day of his life, Raimi said “Thank you, Daddy.” And then he realized what he’d done, and clapped and laughed himself silly for the next 5 minutes.
