The kid is an entertainer.

Raimi’s thing these days is giving kisses and hugs, which is AOK with me. He’s all about sharing the love. He really likes animals and if it looks like he’s going to come on too strong with a cat or dog or goat or whatever, we say “Be gentle, Raimi,” and then he pets the animal very softly and says “Nice.” He does this with humans too, stroking your face and saying “Nice.”

Also he knows how to eat hand-held fruit, like a plum or peach. You don’t have to peel it or anything. Not sure where he picked that up from.

Also he will occasionally put stuff on his head and make wierd noises to try to get you to laugh. And he seems to be singing a lot, although the tunes aren’t what you’d call recognizable. But he claps at the end, so you know when the songs are over.

16 months is really fun age. He’s very mobile, can climb up onto chairs and tables and things, he can eat with a regular fork, he’s always surprising us with new words (bus, train, truck, car, block, shoe, keys, yucky), and he’s just really chill and flexible with his schedule. Car rides, sitting in the cart at the supermarket or Target, eating at restaurants…he’s always down for whatever. Everything’s an adventure. I feel lucky to be a part of his life right now. More often than not, he is a real treat to be around. Even though he still basically sucks at sleeping.
