Brothers
I wish I could capture the look on Kinnell’s face when he sees his brother in the morning or when Raimi jokes around or gives him attention. It’s classic little brother stuff, how much Kinnell admires and emulates his big brother, and I think it makes Raimi proud most of the time. There are times when he needs his space and will go in his room to play legos and be left alone, but then other times they will lie down on their stomachs next to one another, Raimi making space ships and Kinnell studying individual legos and tossing them into the lego box.
This weekend my mom pointed out that Kinnell likes to walk around with his hands held behind his back, a posture he picked up from Raimi. And when the two of them dance to “rocking out songs” (Raimi’s term), look out! They inspire some some awesome moves in one another.
This morning, Raimi pointed at his clear green plastic cup at breakfast and said, “look mommy, I have water.” And then laughed and said “Just kidding! It’s grape juice! It just looks like water.” Kinnell laughed, then, too, and then looked at me and pointed at his cup and said, “Da dah wa-wa” and then giggled hilariously. Except he didn’t have white grape juice — he had water.
Man do I love those crazy dudes.
